Elite Classes
I've seen all these good ideas for classes, and then it came to me. What if the ideas on the Concept Class forum could be made into advanced, or elite classes? Basically what they are is this: They are titles specifically for individual starter classes, or class combos. Say for example you are W/Mo. You speak to someone, or do something that gives you an elite class called a Paladin. It's not really a third class since it's basically a title, like Asura and Deldrimor. If there's a way so you can have only one of those elite classes at a time that would make for a decent concept. Here are more examples to this class idea.
Guardian: Warrior
Blackguard: Warrior/Necromancer
Magician: Elementalist/Mesmer or Mesmer/Elementalist
Dark Priest: Necromancer/Monk or Monk/Necromancer
Arcane Archer: Ranger/Elementalist
Witch: Necromancer
Mage: Elementalist
Warlock: Elementalist/Necromancer
And the list goes on. The possibilities could be endless for this idea! (But I hope there would be an end because then the elite class concept wouldn't work.)
The elite classes would have their own skills, too (of course.) For this example, let's go back to the Paladin elite. One of the skills for this title could be Holy Shield. Costs maybe 5 energy and 5 adrenaline (since the title is on warriors I thought it would make sense to add in the adrenaline cost.) For 10 secs, Damage you and adjacent allies receive is reduced by 5-13 (or maybe even higher?). The damage reduction depends on the rank of Paladin you are at.
I haven't really figured out the complete mechanics for this concept yet (this is just to start it out), so if I could get some help on it that would be great. If people would add into this concept it could take form.
Any opinions about this is welcome. Discussions about it is welcome. Help is especially welcome. If there's anything that any of you think needs change into it, go ahead and express it.
Thanks for reading what I got, everyone.

ive seen ideas like this one arise, the main problems are usually centered around the fact everyone wants their own special skill to complement their class. this would lead to one skill being far superior to the other 'elite class' skills and forcing even more conformity.
however, if it were just a title then there would really be no use to it being in the game and anet probably wont want to implement it (not an efficient use of time).
and of course this would be a PvE only update which gets QQing from the PvP'rs saying that anet is spending far more time helping the PvE'rs than them.
while it is an interesting idea, it does not warrant the time wasted to make it, and it restricts the flexible class idea of GW by making an inherent 'best' secondary for every profession.

WoW sucks. No need to make GW or GW2 into that POS.

This is basically PvE skills. If a certain special 'class' gains extra skills that only THAT class can use, it's just a pve skill. Paladin is warrior with shit version of SY. And the WoW names...I don't have to say anything =/

It's because the class names are from WoW.

@OP:
this topic has been discussed before and if you do a search you should probably find some threads on why/why not this type of update should happen.
@trollers:
and WoW got all their names from Diablo which got all their names from stories/books/myths...
it goes on and on. it actually makes me think that youre retarded because you say something like that.

Well I'm defanatly not for more skills. The game is already too easy.
But I like the title Idea, AS LONG AS the titles don't count as maxed out titles for HoM or anything else. I would like to have it say something like "Paladin Devonas Aprentice"
As long as it has no game effect and is just for show and not really counting as titles, yea that would be cool!

wow, what a big nonsense ...
Paladin a title rofl
When you want to be stronger - be a master/elite , than your core primary profession, then you have to evolve into it and then you make a class change, so simple is that... lol titles...
The dumbest thing about Class CC's I've ever seen here, besides unfunny Joke CC's.
This would be the most retarded cheap way to implement tons of class names into the game, which in the end then don't exist, because it are only retarded titles, that you can change like you change daily your underwear.

If you want to shun everything that even reminds you of WoW please play AO; won't see any elves, orcs or fantasy game names there(I kinda feel bad of setting 'you' on my friends in AO, but I kinda retired anyway)

As for the OP. If PvE skills would have been introduced that way, instead of their current implementation I would have liked them a lot better.
While it creates some interesting niches, it doesn't create a clean an combinable sheet a new profession does.
Hence instead of a profession of Priest you van combine with either necro or monk you have a Pries that already has necro and monk skills and a primary of 1 of those too.
That means you have to balance a class to preform an interesting function, but it already has 2 or more functions, and you can't use a primary or atributes to mold the function.
So basically it ends up as a Dark Priest is a flat few PvE skills that enhance MMing and/or N/Mo [[Glimmer of Light] healers.
While that is by any and every means better than ursan, its still not capable of being truly enriching to the game, just a silly gimmic.

practically everyone who pulls a leeroy already think they are paladins because theyre wammos. its like that weird trend of R/W that popped up pre factions claiming they were the assassins of the game.
i fail to see what you agree with in Phoenix Tears post. the first point doesnt really make sense in english... i think he means to become an elite class you would have to do it like every other game out there, ie go war/mo, complete a quest, go paladin.
his second point (which i can understand...) is basically the traditional mmorpg outlook: you stick with a class and you cannot change. the aspect of flexibility in the class system of GW is one of the reasons people buy the game. this aspect means that they can change their 'underwear' every day, which is actually a very accurate metaphor in my mind because eventually that underwear will get dirty, just as playing the same class will get boring.
so if you want to shoot down someone's idea, please get coherent points that dont involve bashing one of the things that keeps GW unique and players interested.

It's not a bad idea; I rather like it, but not the profession combination-specific skills. I'd rather see a PvE-only bonus applied based on your progress in the title, like the SS/LB or rep bonuses. I don't think Phoenix has a valid point at all with respect to this game; you can actually change your character's build/attributes, skills, and secondary profession at will, at least since they removed attribute refund points. I think GW2 will have fewer skills than GW, so I don't see them adding specific combination-only skills based on this idea.
edit: After further consideration, I don't care too much for this because it puts an insane number of title tracks in the game, and I pretty much hate all titles. YMMV. I'm not too keen on race bonuses either, but it looks like those may be coming in GW2.

Blackguard? Arcane Archer? Warlock?
Dungeons and Dragons.
Doesn't surprise me though; Blizzard is not capable of coming up with their own ideas. Most of their stuff is taken from Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 already.

That is a good idea, but think of all the possible combinations...a bit much? Also, some are far better than others... ie E/Me is prolly better than E/W
